About
Mountain Freedom is, exclusively, a performance band, we get all of our energy and inspiration from our audience and it is this that gives our gigs the excitement and urgency that we the band and, I believe, our audience actually ‘feed’ off leading to a great experience all round. This is not something you can hope to capture, as soon as you record a song and play it back it loses all context, there is no immediacy or audience energy, it becomes just noise and we have plenty of that already in our lives.
As we do not follow a set playlist but depend on how the audience is reacting and how we feel as the gig proceeds any recording of, say, our Singapore tour would only capture the work we performed on the night of the recording which may be quite different to another night so fans hoping to hear their favorite songs may miss out. I will say though, that there are some givens and we do try and end the night with a song that has contextual meaning for the audience as we have found the vibe from the audience a great way to end a show, For example at our gigs in Boston we usually try and end with a cover of ‘Sweet Caroline’ and were absolutely blown away when we performed in Stratford, London, in the UK a song we hadn’t heard of ‘til we got there, ‘I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles’, the response was truly awesome.
